DESCRIPTION
A Yates Patent Champagne Tap marked twice “YATES PATENT” and a stopper that I believe may be a variant of Farrow and Jackson’s patent no. 1683 for a champagne stopper issued on April 26, 1878. A tap very close in form and identified as the 1878 F&J patent can be found Beet & Hayhurst’s CHAMPAGNE ANTIQUES (1985:29). This is a catalog issued for exhibition of champagne antiques that was held in London that year.
