This is the original corkscrew shown in Mechanical Corkscrews . Figure 291. A corkscrew with a brass barrel and a cork ejector inscribed GAMBRINUS D. R. G. M. 137497 with a crown. German registered design No. 137,497 granted to and made by Carl Bewer of Solingen, May 23, 1900. Carl Bewer applied a loosely fitted crossbar between the lower end of the shaft and the worm that slides between two guiding sleeves in the brass barrel. This mechanism enables the collar to ascend as the cork is drawn and prevents the cross bar and therewith the cork from turning when the cork is removed. By turning the handle partly counterclockwise the cork can be grasped with the fingers.
Good, One dent on one side shown in the picture.
