Unusual silver version of the 1855 British Patent of William Lund and William Hipkins of London for the spherical joint of a pocket roundlet. The steel shaft of the worm has the spherical joint at the top and is marked “Lund’s” on one side and “Patent” on the other, above a smaller sphere. The worm is a wide cipher. The silver roundlet has a decorative machined pattern all over and has a plain cartouche for inscriptions. It is hallmarked with a lion, queen’s head and “g” for London 1862 on one half and lion and indistinct marks on the other. There are hallmarks on the ends of the roundlet, but these are indistinct and cannot be read.
See Ellis & Ellis – Corkscrews page 69 and Wallis – British Corkscrew Patents page 34.
Condition – Very good, there is quite a large dent in one half of the roundlet near the joint, and a small dent on the other half. One end is rounded, one is pressed in, The worm is intact and fits well. 8 cms wide.

Payment Details: | Paypal, Bank Transfer or UK Check. Seller would appreciate if items over 500 pounds value could be paid by Bank Transfer and not Paypal. This is due to major problems experienced previously with Paypal, plus their very high fees. Bank details will be sent on request. |
