Rare “Button” Version of Rasch’s 1882 German Patent -- Marked This is the “button” version of the Valentin Rasch 1882 German patent. Although most examples of these are unmarked, this particular example is less common being marked, “F.A. Ko--/& Co.” on the yoke (marking partially indistinct—see photo). The name most likely is that of retailer, F. A. Koch since these are known to have been manufactured by the Rasch firm. I consider this example to be in overall very good to excellent condition. There is no rust or pitting and it operates smoothly with the spring being tight and firm. The helix is original, straight and sharp. Some plating remains with wear consistent with age and some use. See photos and Peters, “Mechanical Corkscrews”, page 185 and “German Corkscrew Patents”, page 12 for similar but unmarked example. *********** Please ask any questions before bidding at wirehelix@yahoo.com |
