DESCRIPTION
A fantastic full barrel Thomason corkscrew, made by Edward Thomason with a lovely badge that is crisp and clear. It says 'Thomason patent ne plus ultra' This corkscrew has the very earliest handle, which has a detachable brush. The handle is fixed to the shaft with an inset square steel plate. The handle is bone.The patina is great. There are no dents, cuts or dings. The brush looks to be original and the worm has a sharp point and looks to be full. This is the best example I have seen. It is a very early example of a Thomason. Mechanically it works perfectly with no catching or slipping. I don't think you will find a better example however long you look. Hanging ring missing.
