DESCRIPTION
Wier’s Lady’s Corkscrew
Offered it this nice example of what is referred to as the Wier’s Lady’s Corkscrew. Though questionable whether this smaller version would actually take less effort to pull a cork, nonetheless it was marketed as being “lighter for ladies’ use”.
This is the bronzed version and is fully marked on both sides, “J.H.S./B.” for James Heeley & Sons, Birmingham and “WIER’S PATENT/No 4377”. The number 4377 is not the patent number, but rather the catalogue number.
I consider this piece to be in excellent condition. I estimate that 90% of the bronze finish is intact. The wire helix is original, full, straight and sharp.
