DESCRIPTION
This is Swedish Patent 4,300, A.L. Qvarnstrom, 12 Jul 1892. Unmarked. The patent was later assigned to Julius Sloor - after that date all of these were marked Julius Sloor Stockholm Patent. Note the shape of this handle is different than most.
At least three versions of this piece were produced - see Berntson and Ekman Scandinavian Corkscrews page 75. This design does not help to remove the cork - rather it is intended to make it easier to insert the worm in the cork. Starting with the worm fully extended you insert the tip of the worm in the cork and then push down to insert the worm. Withdrawal is the same as for any straight pull corkscrew.
