Classic Lund King’s Screw with a bronze barrel with 3 spring bottle grips.
It has a small badge at the base of the barrel marked “Lunds Patent 57 Cornhill”. The 3 springs are marked “The Queen’s Patent”, “Granted”, “To T. Lund London” respectively and there is a crown at the top of each spring. These refer to Thomas Lund’s 1838 British Patent.
It has a simple varnished wooden handle with brush and hanging ring. It has a narrow steel rack with steel pinion handle. The central steel inner shaft has a wide right hand thread.
See Wallis – British Corkscrew Patents – page 19/20, Ellis & Ellis – Corkscrews page 155 and Peters - Mechanical Corkscrews page 222.
Condition – Very good, nice patina bronze, marks, scratches and small dents on barrel. There is an L-shaped scratch or crack at the bottom of the barrel beneath the pinion (1.2 cm x 1.2 cm) which come down the barrel and along the top of the flared edge. Some marks and loss of plating on steel rack and back of steel handle. Bottle grips all intact, worm has some pitting but is intact. Mechanism works OK.

Payment Details: | Paypal, Bank Transfer or UK Check. Seller would appreciate if items over 500 pounds value could be paid by Bank Transfer and not Paypal. This is due to major problems experienced previously with Paypal, plus their very high fees. Bank details will be sent on request. |
