Nice Wide Rack King’s Screw With Patent Plate

Offered is this nice bronze barrel King’s screw with the less common wide rack. Both handles are of nicely turned bone and are original with the end cap solidly intact. The brush and hanging ring also appear to be original. In addition the the word “PATENT”, the badge also bears the Latin phrase “Ne Plus Ultra”.

I consider this example to be in overall excellent condition. As noted, both handles are original and both are solid. The barrel is decorated with several engine turned concentric rings and has a nice patina. The mechanism works smoothly and the wire helix is original, full length and sharp, though very, very slightly compressed at the tip as can be seen in the photos. There is some moderate chipping on the end cap.
