This is a self-puller corkscrew for which Sommers obtained a German patent in 1897, the very rare version with the cutter at one end of the handle. Obviously, it operates the same way as the version without cutter as it makes the cork go up the worm.
It can be seen in two books by Ferd. Peters: Mechanical Corkscrews (page 80, figure 208) and German Corkscrew Registrations 1891-2000 (page 26, figure 66).
The corkscrew is in very good condition.
