A corkscrew based on Joseph Barlett Davies and Herbert Leslie Manton’s patent. Davies and Manton both of Melbourne obtained in 1891 in England patent No. 12,784, in France patent No. 215,229 and in Germany patent No. 61,883 for a corkscrew by which the button is provided with claw-shaped lugs to cut the wire while the screw is being rotated. The lugs are right-handed curved in contrast to the prongs of the “Improved Patent” (fig. 93) to enable cutting the wire.
