This is nice example of the WULFRUNA corkscrew. It has the British Patent 5,549, obtained by Stephen Plant, on March 27, 1884.
The handle has a mechanism that blocks the handle and the shaft for insertion of the worm in the cork. The mechanism is then realeased and the shaft can go up through the handle which now acts like a fly-nut would.
It is marked "WULFRUNA" on one side of the handle and "PLANT'S PATENT NO 5549" on the other. It is also marked "FARROW & JACKSON" on one side of the frame.
The corkscrew is in good condition. The pictures show the small parts that are no longer nickel plated.
