A super example of Robert Jones first English registered design. Highly sought after corkscrew. Marked on barrel: Robert Jones & Son Makers, 105 Cheapside Birmingham, Registered No 423, 8th October 1840 and V crown R on the button. There are various versions of the marks on these, this is the most comprehensive version. Construction also varies this is a really handsome example of slightly heavier construction than others with a thicker button and longer worm.
Full length worm and spikes, mechanism works well, super patination. A little vertical movement on the handle, nibbles to handle. Overall good and very handsome piece.
