Thomason with Badge and Fancy Handle
Lovely classic Thomason corkscrew with a bronze barrel with brushed line finish and decorative lines across. It has a lovely wooden handle with a very unusual knopped ball end, and with a brush. There is a bevelled fixing on top of the handle and bevelled top of the brass inner shaft.
The brass badge has a Royal Coat of Arms and is marked “Ne Plus Ultra”, the Thomason logo. Edward Thomason patented his invention in 1802.
See Ellis – Corkscrews – page 150, Peters - Mechanical Corkscrews – page 128, Wallis – British Corkscrew Patents – page 16
Condition – Very good, nice dark patina, no dents on barrel, handle in good order, slight rust on fluted worm, worm is intact.

Payment Details: | Paypal, Bank Transfer or UK Check. Seller would appreciate if items over 500 pounds value could be paid by Bank Transfer and not Paypal. This is due to major problems experienced previously with Paypal, plus their very high fees. Bank details will be sent on request. |
