Ellis Collection - Rare German Rack & Pinion, Henckels
Rare German rack and pinion steel frame corkscrew, marked "J.A. Henckels" with their Trademark twins logo.
The rack is fitted with circular rings on to a freely turning steel shaft. This is partly based on the 1870 British Patent of Edwin Sunderland, Birmingham, but differs in having the rack fastened to the top fixed ring.
It has a simple antler top handle and a steel side handle. It is marked “19” and “3” on the back of the frame with ingrained traces of old bronze finish.
14 cms
See Peters - Mechanical Corkscrews – page 229, Wallis – British Corkscrew Patents – page 64.
Condition – Very good, marks and slight pitting all over, antler handle is good, bladed worm is intact. Mechanism works OK.

Seller accepts PayPal payments | |
Payment Details: | Paypal, Bank Transfer or UK Check. Seller would appreciate if items over 500 pounds value could be paid by Bank Transfer and not Paypal. This is due to major problems experienced previously with Paypal, plus their very high fees. Bank details will be sent on request. |
