Carl Ulrich German Dual Spring Corkscrew 1895
This fairly rare German dual frame corkscrew was registered in Germany by Carl Ulrich on January 17, 1895, and is unusual in at least two respects. First, rather than the common single spring assist on the shank, the springs are placed on each pillar which is similar to the Neues design registered just a few weeks earlier. Second, it is marked "D.R.G.S." instead of the more common D.R.G.M. The letters "D.R.G.S." stands for "Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchsmuster Schutz" (See Peters, Mechanical Corkscrews, page 243).
I consider this example not to be in good condition
A little bit rusty. The wooden handle needs to be re-attached a little bit. The worn has a small defect. See pictures.
But a very nice corkscrew for every collection.
See photos and Peters, "Mechanical Corkscrews", pages 108 and 243 and "German Corkscrew Registrations", page 20.
