This is a massive, Gropelli-type corkscrew and champagne tap.It, or its doppelganger, sold at Christie's South Kensington in a Corkscrew sale on May 1, 2001 (lot 99) and fetched 5288 ukp with buyer's premium( see link that follows), which is approximately $7580 in USD: converting at rates current in May 2001.Included among the images I've provided is the back cover of the catalog on which it was illustrated. The example I am offering appears virtually identical to the one in the CSK catalog (see link) but close examination suggests that it is probably another example. Apart from the one in the CSK sale and this one, assuming they are not the same, I've not seen another.
