Nice small corkscrew which is an unmarked example of the first corkscrew patent in the world granted to the Reverend Samuel Henshall in 1795.
It has a simple turned wooden handle with a brush at one end, a nice balustered shaft with decorative line pattern, and a steel button which is plain on both sides and slightly concave underneath, just like the patented examples.
It has a simple wire worm.
A nice example if you want to pretend you have one!
11.5 cms

Condition – Very good, wooden handle has indent marks on one side and slight damage underneath at one end, dark patina steel, button has marks and scratches, there is no movement of the shaft in the handle, worm is intact.

Payment Details: | Paypal, Bank Transfer or UK Check. Seller would appreciate if items over £500 GB pounds value could be paid by Bank Transfer and not Paypal. This is due to major problems experienced previously with Paypal, plus their very high fees. Bank details will be sent on request. |
