German spring barrel with locking collar on shaft. This allows the barrel to be released and moved up the shaft to facilitate removal of the cork after extraction. German registered design Georg Giessler Herges-Hallenberg registration # 96,377 dated May 6, 1898. Marked “D.R.G.M. 96377” on the handle.
This piece is in excellent condition and good working order. The corkscrew has no broken or damaged parts and the corkscrew worm is full length with a sharp point. There corkscrew retains almost all the original plating. (Please see pictures for additional details.)
