Rare 1907 Shibata patent corkscrew. Sharp helix, the frame is marked with all kinds of Japanese characters, but is also marked SHIBATA. A rare thing.
In its construction, there is a small fragile lever that would fold out, and touch the side of the frame in engage the corkscrew. This little lever is partially missing, so it doesn't hit the frame.
Also, there should be a screw at the top of the handle that holds the handle in place. At somepoint, this screw was replaced and now has a screw with nuts underneath it. This can be replaced with a proper sized screw should someone be inclined to make that fix.
This is it was found in Japan, but this is also only the second one to been found. A rare piece, but it has its issues
Please check the description. At somepoint someone replaced the top screw, and the little lever that engages the piece is short.
