A sought after corkscrew, Robert Jones first registered design of 1840. The broken handle could easily be replaced by either a Jones style wooden handle or a similar example to the bone one already present. Apart from the broken handle this is a nice example.
My feeling is that this is a relatively early example, I have had a number of these with minor variations, the ring detail on the top of the button, the angular spikes, slightly tapering worm and flat bottomed rounded sides button all suggest earlier manufacture to me.
Minor surface wear, good worm, mechanism works well, very nice example (bar the obvious damage), one tiny nick on thread which does not notice or effect the mechanism, excellent patina.
