Ellis Collection - 4 Registered Cap Lifters 1924/5 Heeley, Coney  

Four British Registered Design cap lifter corkscrews - 

1) Picnic corkscrew with D shape cap lifter handle with a hole below for the plain plated sheath to fit into. It is marked “Regd. No. 702970” on one side and “J.H & S.LD”.  This is the 1924 British Registered Design of James Heeley & Sons Ltd, Birmingham.  12.5 cms closed. 

2) Large D shape cap lifter with side extensions for fingers, marked “Rd. No. 713438”.  This is the 1925 British Registered Design of Coneys Ltd, Birmingham.  It has no sheath, as shown in Trade Catalogues, and a bladed worm.  11 cms 

3) Smaller version of the same design, marked “Regd.” It has a plain plated sheath marked “Black & Gold Scotch Whisky” on one side and “Glasgow Bonding Co. Ld. Glasgow” on the other side.  It has a wire worm.  10.5 cms closed.

4) Smaller version as in 3), marked “Rd. No. 713438”.  It has no sheath and has a wire worm.  9.5 cms

Condition – Good, light marks and scratches on all. 2) has slight pitting.
3) has dark loss of plating on the top of the cap lifter.
4) has rust and pitting all over cap lifter. 
Worms are all intact.
