William Robert Maud, an English dentist and chemist, received the patent (# 10,211) for this corkscrew, which was known as the "Turncork", on May 21st 1895. When these turn up one or more spikes have often been broken and repaired. This well-marked example, however, is in untouched condition and retains a fair amount of the original bronzing.
In very good condition apart from some loss of bronzing.
