Here is an extremely rare double folding pocket corkscrew, probably 18th century. I have never seen this example before, it is very interesting.
This English piece has pipe tamper ends. One pipe tamper end has a drilled hole with a thread inside and the other pipe tamper end has a groove cut out of it and a further protruding piece which tapers to an edge. Obviously this piece had other uses and is classified as a multi tool of some kind. The worm is early and fine, the corkscrew has a fantastic deep patina.
One hinge is slightly loose and the other hinge is tight. Overall condition is very good. Pieces of this interest and quality rarely come up for sale.
Offered with a reserve that reflects the rarity of this piece, don't miss it, this could be your only chance to pick up a rare English pocket corkscrew.
Very good, one hinge slightly loose.
