Rare unusual version of the Sperry single lever, marked “Patd May 28 1878” in tiny writing at the top of the lever arm for the 1878 US Patent. This version has a short spring, fixed through the top, halfway along lever arm. It is a different design from the long spring on top of the arm shown in O’Leary and Peters references below. The spring works very well for the inserting into cork position.
See O’Leary - Corkscrews page 42, Peters - Mechanical Corkscrews page167, and Ellis & Ellis – Corkscrews page 111.
Condition - very good, some loss of plating, some loss of black paint and a few dents on handle, worm is complete.

Payment Details: | Paypal, Bank Transfer or UK Check. Seller would appreciate if items over 500 pounds value could be paid by Bank Transfer and not Paypal. This is due to major problems experienced previously with Paypal, plus their very high fees. Bank details will be sent on request. |
